“Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R&D. It's not about money. It's about the people you have, how you're led, and how much you get it.” - Steve Jobs

Fall speaking schedule (would love more!)

I thought I’d do a quick post letting people know where I’m going to be so they’ll turn out and show some support and maybe just have a good learned time in the doing as well.

Heartland Developer Conference – Sep 5-7 – Omaha, NE
I’m doing two different talks on the same day here in Omaha. A veritable speaker double-header.

First, I’ll be giving one of my favorite talks I’ve give on the place of motion as an aesthetic to consider in gestural design, especially in the mobile context (session description). I have some lessons learned from the past that I hope will bring this talk up to date and even better than it’s previous incarnations (which were quite good if I do say so myself).

Then I’ll be (I can’t believe I’m going to say this) the closing keynote for the entire conference. Now only that, but I’ll be giving a talk I’ve never given before. “But it’s all right up here,” he says pointing to his head. It is on the work I’ve been doing at SCAD in teaching observation as a craft for designers (session description). My biggest fear is that this heavily engineering-centric crowd will miss the point. Never spoken outside my peeps before on a topic so out of their natural way of thinking before. Gotta make it big!

Remix South – Oct 19 – 20 – Atlanta, GA
Just doing one talk here in Atlanta this fall season. In fact, it will be a master class 1/2 day workshop on Interaction Design. I love that Atlanta has taken the inspiration from MS’s Mix conference (now ended) and making their own signature embellishment’s on it. I’m after lunch on day 1.

I hope I get to see old friends at both events and make new friends as well. See ya on the road.

    An update:
I’ll be speaking at Geekend the beginning of the November here in Savannah. Would be great if some of my Southern friends and colleagues could make the trip for this great event. http://geek-end.com/
