“Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R&D. It's not about money. It's about the people you have, how you're led, and how much you get it.” - Steve Jobs

Foundational Principles

To start a conversation on creating your project’s design principles you need to make sure that everyone on your team is building off of the same foundation of principles. So I start with these 3.

Beyond these principles are the more scientific axioms that teach us so much about design decisions. A great book that acts as a reference to these is The Universal Principles of Design.

The combination of these should be known by everyone in your organization in some way. They are at the heart of what makes all design(s) good. The question is how do we expose these and other similar types of principles into your organization. I’d love to hear people’s stories about how they have spread principles within their organizations.
